Lafomed Water Distiller LF-Z500A, Stainless Steel

A bench water distiller with air cooling, so it does not need plumbing in. Fill the 4 litre tank, close the lid, switch on.

The reason to own one is running cost and independence. An autoclave needs distilled water and nothing else: tap water leaves mineral deposits in the chamber and the pipework, and that is what eventually kills an autoclave. Buying it in by the bottle works until the week you run out mid-list.

Output is one litre an hour, collected in the glass carafe supplied with it. Also used for other professional work that needs clean water.
