Side nippers with a straight, narrow, pointed jaw and an 18 mm cutting edge.
The narrow jaw is what lets the blade travel down the side of the plate rather than sitting across the top of it. A wide jaw simply cannot enter that space, which is why a general nail nipper is the wrong tool for work in the sulcus.
Double-spring mechanism with a guard, so the arms return evenly and the spring cannot come away in use.

Care
Stainless steel, autoclavable. Dry it fully before it goes back in the pouch: moisture left in the joint is what causes staining and stiffness, not the sterilisation itself.
