9 mm is a working size rather than a precision one: enough edge to clear a fold in two passes, and enough blade to reach material that a short jaw would only scrape at.

Care
Stainless steel, autoclavable. Dry it fully before it goes back in the pouch: moisture left in the joint is what causes staining and stiffness, not the sterilisation itself.
