The short jaw suits close work: tight corners, thin skin, anywhere you would rather take three small bites than one confident one.

Double spring between the arms. That is what you feel when a nipper is worth the money: the return is even, the close is quiet, and you can stop the jaw exactly where you meant to instead of letting it snap shut.

Polished rather than matte. It shows water spotting more readily than a matte finish, so dry it properly, but it also makes it obvious at a glance whether the tool is clean, which matters when the client is watching you open the pouch.

Care

Stainless steel, so it takes autoclaving and chemical disinfection between clients. Dry it properly before it goes back in the pouch: moisture left in a hinge is what causes staining and eventually stiffness, not the sterilisation itself.
